		<description>Why would I comment on Boing Boing? They treat me like a criminal anyway! I used to think Boing Boing was interesting but now I&#039;m not so sure. I got &quot;disemvoweled&quot; just for posting links to some relevant blog posts of mine. I tried to communicate and got nothing but silence. Have they ever thought of assuming commenters are writing in good faith and email them to clear up a possible misunderstanding? Instead, they left a caustic comment following mine with no clear way on how to &quot;comply&quot; with their blog commenting philosophy, started to disemvowel my comments, said that I should contact Teresa without telling me how I was supposed to do that, etc. Also, email would be better too as I&#039;m sure not everyone returns compulsively to read all the subsequent comments to a post they commented on. It all seems a bit too arrogant and callous to me.</description>

		<description>Greg here displays something I&#039;ve seen a lot of regular commentators do over at Making Light on this very subject: furious defensiveness, bad-faith arguments that misinterpret opponents and attempts to counter-attack as a way of changing  the subject. (I note that the latest Making Light thread has now become a referendum on whether or not Metafilter is misogynist). 

This issue isn&#039;t about whether or not BoingBoing have the legal right to do what they did or indeed the power. It&#039;s about whether or not it was a hypocritical or unfair or unkind or foolish or otherwise bad thing to do. Those are two distinct things - one is a question of power and law, the other a question of ethics. It is mysterious and authoritarian of Making Light and its defenders to claim that they are not. (All this &quot;They don&#039;t have to listen you, it&#039;s their blog&quot; rubbish... Well, no, they don&#039;t HAVE to. But that doesn&#039;t mean they acted well, only that they have the power to do so.)</description>
